Naarden is one of the best-preserved fortified cities in Europe and especially famous for its unique star shape. The fortress has six bastions, a double wall, and a double canal belt. It is good to walk on the fortifications. A cruise around the works is also possible. The extensive fortress designed by Adriaen Anthonisz, of which large parts from the 17th century are still present, is freely accessible.

My new village Bussum is twinned with the fortified city of Naarden. The city is nice, but the fortifications are magnificent. Worth the trip!
