Traveling. Leaving your own city boundaries and go somewhere else. Just 50 kilometres, or 5000. What does it matter? It’s the great unknown out there!

Rheine, Münster & Osnabrück

Finally, we can travel again after the Covid-19 lockdown. So immediately booked a train holiday to the small German city Rheine, about forty kilometers from the Dutch border. A peaceful holiday with lots of walking, German beer and food, and trips to beautiful cities such as Münster and Osnabrück.

Rabat

Rabat is the capital of modern Morocco. And you can see that. The buses have windows and air conditioning, the sidewalks are complete and clean. Here the money is spent.

Casablanca

The city is perhaps less beautiful than the imperial cities, but here you meet hospitable people and taste the real Morocco.

Vechtdal Overijssel

The Vechtdal (River Vecht Valley) in Overijssel is an immensely popular destination for campers and bikers. It is a remarkably diverse environment with excellent biking paths. However, for hikers looking for peace and quiet, and want to see things people on wheels can’t, this is not entirely the place… Day […]

Cuijk – Groesbeek – Nijmegen

Another two day hike. The first day over the Mookerheide and around the St. Jansberg to Groesbeek. Second day from Groesbeek over the Devil’s Mountain and through the Philosopher’s Valley to Nijmegen. Besides the local names, this is truly one of the most fairytale parts of the Netherlands. Heaths overlooking […]

Meinweg – Brüggen – Schwalm

Three very different walks; high sandy grounds from Roermond to Brüggen through the moors of Meinweg, the lakes in the Schwalm valley around Brüggen and a walk back to the Netherlands along the Schwalm and over the lower sandy grounds of the Schwalm moorlands. Day 1: Roermond – Meinweg – […]

€100 Schnitzel

I was so lucky to be invited for an after-work flight from Lelystad (The Netherlands) to Stadtlohn (Germany) to have a schnitzel. I had never flown in a ‘real’ airplane before (only air busses) and I am grateful for the experience!

Pentecost in Valkenburg

In the south of the Netherlands the idyllic valley of the River Geul is one of the most fantastic places for a nice walk. See for yourself…

Historic Nijmegen

The oldest city of the Netherlands, but unfortunately bombed by the allied forces in 1944. They finished the destruction of the city already started by demolishing the old castle and the magnificent city walls. Why does man always need to destroy?

Sardegna, Italy

A week of relaxation in Sardinia. A beautiful island in the Mediterranean. Good climate, tasty food, reasonable coffee. And a beautiful nature. The photos show Castelsardo, a fortified town on a peninsula in the north, Sassari, the local capital, and the La Maddelena archipelago.
