Rheine, Münster & Osnabrück

Finally, we can travel again after the Covid-19 lockdown. So immediately booked a train holiday to the small German city Rheine, about forty kilometers from the Dutch border. A peaceful holiday with lots of walking, German beer and food, and trips to beautiful cities such as Münster and Osnabrück.

Bussum in postcards and old pictures

Bussum is a relatively young village. Only when the train connection to Amsterdam was established did the village start to grow. It is amazing how the village has changed in these 150 years.

Rabat

Rabat is the capital of modern Morocco. And you can see that. The buses have windows and air conditioning, the sidewalks are complete and clean. Here the money is spent.

Casablanca

The city is perhaps less beautiful than the imperial cities, but here you meet hospitable people and taste the real Morocco.

Ankeveense Plassen

The Ankeveense Plassen are old peat excavations. It is a varied landscape of water, forests, and polders. This walk starts as usual at Naarden-Bussum train station and ends at Weesp station.

Heather in bloom

Unfortunately a lot of heathland has dried up and it is not the bright purple plain that we would like to see.

Zanderij Cruysbergen & Bussummerheide

Walk from Naarden-Bussum via Zanderij Cruysbergen to the Bussummerheide and via the village back to the station. Enough opportunity for a drink or snack in the last kilometres! Sorry for the quality of the pictures, my telephone obviously had a bad camera day…
